MTA ACT/NSW/VIC Muaythai Competition. - NSW/ACT/VIC (TRI-STATE) Junior MTA Championships. (Athletes from any state are welcome to enter and will be matched in one off bouts if possible!) 

Phoenix gym will host a Muaythai competition on the 13th October. It is an amateur event for juniors and adults. Anyone registered with an MTA club can enter. Adults will compete in one off, pre matched bouts however juniors will compete in a tournament style competition to determine the ACT/NSW Champion. This is an officiated MTA event in accordance with the MTA rules and weight divisions. Each athlete is required to register with the MTA via the ACT MTA branch if not already registered with the MTA.

Weigh in will be on the day at Phoenix Muaythai. Registration is at 9:00am then weigh in commences. Weigh closes at 10:00am. Bouts will start at 1:00pm. There is NO VIDEO weigh in's. All competitors must be present at the weigh in. 

Adults will be matched in advance and fights confirmed prior to the event. If you don't get a match, you can get your money back. If you, pull out or don't accept a match - that is different. 

Juniors and seniors will compete in accordance with the MTA rules. Padding requirements and round times will be strictly in accordance with MTA rules. 

Juniors are a tournament style competition. It is an elimination event. Each entrant will however compete a maximum of 2 times on the day. If there is more than 4 people per division we may seed the entrants based on experience. Juniors will be placed in division's based on experience. Although it is a tournament we will operate classes/divisions and matching will be based on experience. NOVICES ARE WELCOME. Juniors may be matched in one off matches for safety if classes vary. Only the open class will determine the TRI-STATE champion

The event is open to Juniors from 8 -17 years. Adults from 18 years. PROOF OF AGE IS REQUIRED at WEIGH IN. PASSPORT OR BIRTH CERTIFICATE. 

Registration is for the competition only. All other administration and logistics is at your our expense. 

RULES:    

Juniors - Age group's are based the age of the entrant as at 13 Oct 2018.  

Seniors - You must be 18 or over.  A junior may compete with a senior if there is not more than 2 year age difference and the experience is equal.  

Eligibility - Open MTA registered Clubs only. If you wish to enter - you must join an MTA club or get your club to join the MTA. Individuals must join MTA ACT, this can be done at the event.

Registration Fee - Early bird special $25 for Juniors. $40 for Adults. (prior to 13 Sep 2018). Registration Closes - 5th Oct 2018.(due to ACT government legislation; so NO exemptions. Registration Fee 13 Sep - 5th Oct is $35. 

Registration is per athlete. It is payable whether there is a bout or not. It is also payable if the entrant doesn't make weight or turn up. Registration includes entry to the event. 

Drug testing: The MTA is a member of WADA. Random entrants may be drug tested during the event. By entering the event you give permission to be drug tested. 

Medical Requirements. A medical for the event is required. It MUST be presented at registration or it can be uploaded with your entry. Blood tests are required for anyone 16 and over, on the original form, that are dated no less than 3 months from the event or current state medical is valid. Pregnancy declaration are required for females. (this is a part of the MTA medical) Medical form is available here. ADD MEDICAL. No medical - no compete. MTA Medical available here. (You do not need this if you are registered with CSA.)

You do not have to register with your state CSA to compete in the ACT. Juniors do not have to register, as long as your club is registered with the MTA. 

NSW/VIC/SA/WA registered athletes:  If you are registered with the State Government Combat Sports - YOU MUST BRING YOUR BOOK the event. You do not have tp be registered with your state government to compete in the ACT but your club must be registered with the MTA. Your medical and bloods are to be in accordance with your state requirements and up to date for state registration. QLD Athletes -you must be registered with the MTQ/MTA. You can upload a copy of your books medical adn bloods on entry. 

Trainers - MTA Head Instructors get one free entry. 1- 3 fighter gets, two tickets (*entries) for trainers.  Teams with more than 4 athletes get 3 trainer entries.  

All other people including family are required to purchase an entry ticket. 

Spectators:

  • Adults - $25. Juniors 6 - 17 years - $10. Juniors 5 an under free. ID may be requested.

Weight Divisions - As per MTA Rules. 

Event Waiver - is required to be completed on sign in or bring signed copy to event registration. No waiver - no compete. 

Schedule:

Saturday13th October 

  • Entrant registration and weigh in: At venue - 9:00am to 10:00am
  • All matches will be done in advance for seniors. Juniors will be subject to a draw after the weigh in is complete. Based on entry and experience there will either be a tournament or one off matches. Junior matches will be arranged depending on entry numbers and matched as close as possible in age, weight and experience. 
  • Organising Committee Meeting - 12:00pm at venue. 
  • TRAINER MEETING - COMPULSORY: 12:30pm at venue.  
  • Official Meeting - COMPULSORY: 12:00pm at the venue

Medal ceremonies will be conducted immediately after the finals bout in the ring. 

Junior State Team selection: Winning this event guarantees you a spot on your state team for Nationals. All other places are also able to compete at Nationals in 2019.  

Common Questions.

What equipment do I need? You are required to have a mouth guard. Females above 14 are required to wear chest guards and groin guards. Males are required to wear a groin guard. Gloves, Head gear, elbow guards, shin guards are supplied. Padding in accordance with MTA rules.

What if I have no one in my weight division? We will try and match you with the best available opponent. You have two options. 1. Win the division by walk over. 2. Enter in the weight division up and compete or accept the closest possible match. If you enter the weight division above, you forfeit the win in the weight division you entered.

Adults will be advised in advance and will know if they have a match or not 7 days from the event. 

What clothing do I fight in? Muaythai shorts are mandatory. Fighters must fight in Muaythai shorts. Shorts must match the corner you are fighting from or be neutral. Females must fight in a crop top. Males can fight with no shirt. 

Wai Kru? All fighter MUST wear a Mongkon into the ring, ceil the ring and be prepared to compete. Due to strict time restrictions it is requested that Wai Kru be very short or just be prepared to compete. 

Corner person - Maximum of two corner people are allowed. They must stay in their chairs during the round and behave professionally or the fighter will be disqualified.  Only one to enter the ring in breaks. 

Photos - There is no photos permitted of the weigh in at anytime. Female weigh in - All females will weigh under the supervision of a female official. No males will be allowed in the female weigh in area.
