The MTA Nationals is one of the most significant events in the Muaythai Calendar for athletes in the sport, this event is tournament style and serves as the National Qualifier, where A Class athletes compete to secure their position on the Australian National Team. This event caters to all athletes giving everyone the opportunity to improve and gain experience. Offering a range of classes to suit all athletes.

MTA is aligned with the IOC recognised body of Muaythai, IFMA. Who is working towards becoming an Olympic sport. The IOC recognizes organizations that align with their Olympic values ensuring that the principles and integrity of the sport are upheld. MTA is the governing body for Muaythai in Australia recognised by Sports Integrity Australia.

All registrants must arrive on the 13th March to confirm their weight class, submit any required documents that have not yet been submitted and collect their competition and or Wai Kru uniform. Competition will begin on the 14th March.

YOU MUST INCLUDE ALL YOUR COMBAT BOUT EXPERIENCE

Registration is for the competition only. All other administration and logistics is at your own expense. ID is required on registration/weigh-in. All bouts are strictly controlled and safety is paramount. You will be matched with anyone in your division according to your experience.

Weigh in, you are required to weigh in on each day you are competing. If you fail to make weight, at anytime, you are disqualified.

ALL ATHLETES MUST COMPETE IN THE PROVIDED UNIFORMS

Registration is per athlete. It is payable (non refundable) whether there is a bout or not. It is also payable if the entrant doesn't make weight, unless a medical note is provided.

Anti Doping: The MTA is a member of SIA (Sports Integrity Australia). All testing will be done under the guidelines of SIA.

All athletes 14+, coaches and volunteers are required to complete the Anti-doping Fundamentals and the Annual Update on the Sport Integrity Australia eLearning: Log in to the site

Athletes 14 and under are required to complete the Clean Sport 101.

Medical Requirements. A medical for the event is required and must be dated less than 12 months from the first date of the event. Blood tests are required on the original form, that are dated no less than 6 months from the event. Both MUST be presented at registration with proof of age and identity, unless uploaded at registration

Weight Divisions - As per IFMA weight divisions. Your selection in the Australian Squad and consideration for the Australian Team will be based on the weight division you enter. If you make it in the Australian Team, you have to be able to compete at the world championships in the weight division you are selected for. Only Elite, U23 and A Class Youth  Gold medallists secure their position on the Australian Team.

Event Waiver - is required to be completed and signed. Please bring signed copy to event registration.

Medal ceremonies will be conducted immediately after the finals bout.

Australian Team selection:  Junior A Class, Senior Elite and U23 gold medallist will secure their position on the Australian National Team. The 2025 IFMA Senior World Championships are in Cappadocia, Turkey – May, and the 2025 IFMA Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE – September. Dates TBC.

 UNOPPOSED ATHLETES 

If you do not have anyone in your division when registration closes you will be given a few options.

  1. You can move to a different weight class
  2. We will try to make a match-up either at a catch weight or different experience level
  3. We can offer an exhibition if the available opponent's weight or experience is extremely different
